Self-Training Packs
Self-Training packs are designed to enable groups to train themselves on particular benefit issues.
They include:
- training pack
- tutor notes
- exercises with answers
- example visual aids.
There is a charge for these items-£6.75 per pack £23.90 for 5 packs. Both are inclusive of postage and packing (UK only). To order a Self-Training Pack please use our Other Publications Order Form.

- ST1 - CARERS OVER 60
This pack looks at the particular benefit issues for carers aged 60 and over. As such it covers Carers Allowance and Pension Credit, primarily dealing with the complex issue of underlying entitlement to the Carers Premium/Addition.
- ST2 - DISABLED, CARERS & BENEFITS - AN OVERVIEW
This self-training pack allows the presenter to give an overview of the main care and mobility benefits (Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance Care component and Disability Living Allowance Mobility component) as well as Carers Allowance. The presenter will show how to recognise the difference between Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance, understand the legal and other criteria to entitlement of these benefits and what to do to challenge a decision.
- ST3 - PERMITTED WORK
This self-training pack will enable the presenter to explain the rules of Permitted Work that allows people on incapacity for work benefits (Incapacity Benefit, Income Support, etc) to do work whilst retaining the benefit.
- ST4 - THE 28 DAY RULE (RESIDENTIAL CARE OR HOSPITAL)
This self-training pack looks at the effect on key benefits of a period spent in short-term publicly-funded Care, whether planned, respite or as an emergency. Specifically it will look at the "28 day rule" that affects Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance Care and Disability Living Allowance Mobility when entering hospital, NHS or Social Services funded Residential or Nursing Care.
